I love how it starts out classic broadway and ends classic Lambert, long up and down note. By the way guys people should be cast in a role based solely on merit and talent, not based on race. A black guy with less talent than a white guy shouldn’t get the part because the egyptians were black.
Yeah, definitely very offensive if they had done such a thing. What I want to mean here is that you hardly see dark-skinned people chosen to play Egyptians role, whereas the truth in history is that Egyptians were dark-skinned.
I wonder why producers don’t clean up the false thoughts on Egyptians by giving the chance to dark-skinned ppl to play those roles. Let the truth be spread!!! Stop thinking that the MIGHTY Egyptians were light-skinned.

Maybe they were following the recent tendency toward ‘colour-blind casting’? Over here we had child actors playing the son of a Durham miner in Billy Elliott – one was Asian, one was dark-skinned…..it was a real challenge to try to watch the show and get past the casting, but the show’s producers were very proud of their decisions. Just a possibility……..and of course, if these producers had ‘blacked up’ their chosen singers to play the Egytian roles, it would have been deeply offensive.
I’m not talking about the project managers who created this scene, I’m talking about the project managers/architects/etc, in the scene. Those that are monitoring the slaves, and stuff..
Pssshhh.. This bad selection of races (cuz the truth is that Egyptians were “Black” I should say) just spoiled the sensation of the whole thing.

Egyptians were all dark-skinned at that time. Egypt belonged to dark-skinned people at that time and you can see that in very relevant coverages. There’s also a well-known Jewish Museum that proves that.
The most ridiculous thing in the scene is to have taken a dark-skinned guy to play the role of the slave keeper whereas the project managers are light-skinned!

Uh, no, he has about 2.8 octaves in full voice. And that note in Crazy was a C3, go to DDD music forum they keep track there. Don’t worry though, Jackie Wilson have 2.4 octaves in full voice and look what he does with it.
He was kinda skinny back then, yeah? Much cuter now that he’s filled out a bit. But wow did the voice always sound amazing.

I painted that set and got to listen to Adam sing during the rehearsals. Each time he would sing all the Scenic Artists would ask, “Who is this guy? He is amazing!” We had no clue who he was but knew he was on his way to a great career. It brings back joyful memories to watch this video and remember how it sounded in person, just a few feet away.

Is there anything this man can not sing?? He is remarkable!! Though plenty of people in LA would have killed for the success he had there even before idol – it is still hard to beleieve the world didn’t know about him. Adam is just phenomenal.

It was an alright song, but I couldn’t stop laughing at his face at the end. The entire lower half of his face was moving in time with the vibrato. Wow. Pretty sure that’s not how it’s classically done. Lol.
Actually, her voice sounds rather weak. I would bet that Adam had the only decent voice in the cast, but I haven’t heard any other songs from this musical. A friend of mine saw this when it played in L.A. and he said that this number was the show stopper for the entire show.
I’ve heard of much weirder musicals, so I didn’t even think about it. lol
